Kickoff for High-Tech Textile Cluster: vombaur Moves into CTPark Wuppertal

Stuttgart, December 3, 2024 – CTP, Europe’s largest listed owner, developer, and manager of logistics and industrial properties, has welcomed vombaur GmbH & Co. KG as a new tenant at CTPark Wuppertal in Germany.

The textile company has leased approximately 8,746 sqm of production, office, and social space at the business park where they will produce high-quality technical textiles at the site with around 90 employees. The production facilities and equipment are already designed to accommodate the future needs of the growing company.

vombaur is a textile manufacturer specializing in technical narrow fabrics for filtration, composite, and other industrial applications. As part of the Textation Group, this family-owned company has been based in Wuppertal since its founding nearly 220 years ago and will continue its operations in the region with its move to CTPark Wuppertal. This marks the beginning of a high-tech textile cluster for the city.

Patrick Kielholz, Chief Operating Officer of vombaur GmbH & Co. KG., said:

“We chose this location because it allows us to achieve our growth goals. Here, we will consolidate the weaving expertise of the Textation Group with 150 weaving machines. The increased visibility in this central business park will help us attract additional skilled workers. We would like to thank CTP for the excellent collaboration.”

CTPark Wuppertal offers a total of approximately 100,000 sqm of usable space on a 155,000 sqm plot. The warehouses are partially equipped with sprinkler and fire alarm systems, insulated glass windows, and LED lighting. A planned photovoltaic system will supply the entire property with carbon-neutral green electricity. The site is heated in an eco-friendly manner using a state-of-the-art heat pump, and electric vehicle charging stations are available throughout the premises. CTP is pursuing DGNB Gold certification with these measures.

The park is being developed on the historic grounds of the former Schaeffler production site. As part of this project, CTP honours the area’s industrial history by refurbishing some older buildings while replacing others with new constructions. For instance, the sawtooth-roofed hall, which vombaur will use along with its adjoining high-bay warehouse, dates back to 1942. Together with a crane hall and a villa, it is being considered for heritage protection. CTP is modernizing these historic structures and adapting them to meet the needs of the new tenant.

Wuppertal, with nearly 360,000 residents, is the largest city in the Bergisches Land region of North Rhine-Westphalia. As an industrial and economic center, it boasts excellent transportation links. The A46 and A535 motorways are just two minutes away, while the A1 and A3 are reachable within five minutes from CTPark Wuppertal. Public transportation access is also convenient, with a bus stop only a two-minute walk from the site. Starting in 2025, a centrally located café with an on-site roastery will enhance convenience for tenants, with additional dining spaces planned for 2026.

Wuppertal’s Mayor, Uwe Schneidewind, said:

“With CTP as the new owner and project developer, an experienced and reputable company is working alongside the city to create an attractive usage concept that sets architectural and workforce development benchmarks. For us as a city, it was important to ensure this site did not become a derelict area or speculative property. With CTP, we have found a professional partner for site preparation and redevelopment.”

CTP’s modernization and construction work is scheduled to continue until August 2025. vombaur will move into the premises in September 2025, with the go-live planned for early 2026.

“With CTPark Wuppertal, we are bringing a historic site into the modern era, both in terms of features and sustainability. We have benefited from close, productive collaboration with the building authority, economic development office, and the mayor’s office,” said Timo Hielscher, Managing Director M&A at CTP Germany. “This allows us to offer vombaur, a long-standing Wuppertal company, an attractive location with excellent growth potential. We thank everyone involved for the professional partnership and look forward to a successful tenancy.”
