NIO to set up new assembly plant in Biatorbágy, Hungary
Budapest, 29 July 2022. – China-based automotive manufacturer NIO, famous for its electric cars and battery pack swap stations, is setting up a new assembly plant in CTP’s logistics park in Biatorbágy. The stations of the battery swap networks for the smart vehicles of the brand that recently appeared on the European market will be manufactured there. This is a new feature in the world of e-vehicles, which significantly reduces the charging time of a car’s battery.
In July 2022 NIO moved into the 10,000 m2 hall of CTPark Budapest West, where it will begin the production of battery exchange stations which can be used to shorten the full charging of electric cars to approximately the time required for a traditional refuelling. Their self-developed Battery Swap Station does not charge the already depleted battery but replaces it with a fully charged one. These structures enable the professional implementation of this special process. The entire European network will be served from the stations assembled in Biatorbágy.
Customized production hall
For the successful opening of the factory in the fall, the unique and tailored transformation of the hall has already begun. The main feature of the hall is that it includes heavy-duty cranes. The industrial real estate developer and manager CTP Management Hungary Kft. has undertaken the following reconstructions for the NIO plant:
- Intelligent access control system
- Special fire protection system tailored to the company’s requirements
- The installation of unique lights in the roof structure
- The construction of electric car changing stations in the parking lots
- And a demonstration battery swap station will also be built in the yard
