CTP is building facilities for ABB near Brno with an emphasis on employee comfort, creating up to 60 new jobs

CTP, Europe’s largest listed owner, developer, and operator of logistics and industrial real estate by gross leasable area, has symbolically raised the first column to mark the start of construction of a new, 38,000-sqm building at CTPark Brno South. The key tenant will be ABB, which will move into new premises covering over 17,000 sqm and expand its production of low-voltage switchgear and related activities, including a development centre. The move will create up to 60 new jobs across all positions in the first phase. The building features not only a technically advanced workspace but also architecturally interesting offices, which are not commonly found in industrial parks in the Czech Republic—demonstrating that a modern working environment is no longer restricted to city centres.

The increasing emphasis companies are placing on the quality of the work environment is also confirmed by ABB, a global leader in electrical engineering and automation. ABB has long been one of the most important employers in the South Moravian region, and its new facilities at CTPark Brno South represent another step towards strengthening its local production, developing competencies, and ensuring job stability in the region. ABB is expanding its current location in CTPark Brno, moving its low-voltage switchgear production, related development centre, administration, and warehouse space to CTPark Brno South. ABB plans to hire up to 60 new employees at the new location next year and within a few years, the number of employees is expected to grow ten-fold to around 600—nearly double the current level of 320 people employed at ABB’s existing location. Production at the new facility at CTPark Brno South is scheduled to start in August 2026. ABB cooperates with CTP at several other locations, including the Ponávka mixed-use campus (in Brno) and Ostrava.

David Staněk, Manufacturing Unit Manager at ABB, explains:

“Our requirements for the new facility were very specific from the outset—we were looking for premises that would allow us to develop production alongside the development of switchgear, and at the same time provide high-quality conditions for our employees. CTP was able to meet these requirements. The possibility of connecting production, offices, and relaxation areas in one place was one of the main reasons why we decided to move this part of our activities from the centre of Brno here.”

ABB’s new premises are designed with an emphasis on the needs of employees and the specifics of production. The administrative part of the building features a designer glass facade, with ample daylight, greenery, and facilities for relaxation and sports. The architectural design of the offices follows the style of modern urban campuses and naturally connects the production environment with the open workspace. The new building, which will meet the highest technological and environmental standards, supports ABB’s plans for CO2 neutrality and aims for BREEAM Outstanding certification. It will be equipped with photovoltaic panels, a modern heating and cooling system based exclusively on heat pumps, and charging infrastructure for electric cars.

Pavel Blažek, Senior Business Developer at CTP in the Czech Republic, says:

“ABB has long been one of the most important employers in the South Moravian Region, and we are delighted that the company has chosen us for its further development plans. We greatly appreciate the trust they have placed in us. This project is another step in the development of our Brno locations and raises not only the standard of construction, but also the perception of industrial locations in Czechia. I would like to thank Vít Zdráhal and Anna Janečková from Cushman & Wakefield, who contributed to the successful completion of the transaction.”

The BRNS04 building is part of the next phase of development of CTPark Brno South, one of the most important industrial complexes in South Moravia, where last year CTP delivered a 52,000-sqm production facility—one of the largest in the region. CTP currently manages seven industrial parks, two office parks, and one multifunctional complex in South Moravia, and as part of its long-term strategy, it plans further development in the region to support the needs of key employers such as ABB.

ABB’s low-voltage switchgear manufacturing plant in Brno is a global leader in the production of low-voltage switchgear up to 1000 V AC. Its cutting-edge solutions ensure the safe and efficient distribution of electrical energy for industrial operations, commercial buildings, and data centres around the world with the aim of increasing energy efficiency and sustainability.
