CTP and Škoda Group Open New 23,000 sqm CTPark Plzeň Kasárny Logistics Centre to Support Rail Car Production in Plzeň

Plzeň, Sept 15, 2026 – CTP, Europe’s largest developer, owner, and operator of industrial and logistic properties, and Škoda Group, a leading European public transport systems producer, together opened a new 23,000 sqm logistics centre in Plzeň. Škoda Group, which has made significant investments towards expanding production capacities in recent years, will concentrate crucial logistics functions and preparation of components to produce rail cars at its new facility. CTPark Plzeň Kasárny allows the company to consolidate its dispersed capacities, improve material flows, and better enable 120 current Škoda Group employees to supply its production facilities in Plzeň.

CTPark Plzeň Kasárny was built on the site of the former Zátiší barracks, a 1930s military facility that gradually fell into disrepair after 1989. CTP, taking inspiration from successful German and Dutch projects, completely revitalised the more than 50,000 sqm brownfield site into a modern multipurpose business park that connects various types of businesses into a functional whole. The newest addition to the park is industrial giant Škoda Group.

A Logistics Centre to Produce Trains, Trams, and Trolleybuses

Comprising two buildings, the new centre will serve as a central intake point for materials used in the production of Škoda Group rail cars in Plzeň. About 80% of the supplied material will be stored on site. The centre can dispatch up to 11,200 pieces of production material per day, covering a broad spectrum of mechanical and electronic components from suppliers around the world, including parts weighing up to 4.5 tons.

“Plzeň is Škoda Group’s home and one of our most important production centres. We have significantly invested in the modernisation of our production facilities in recent years, and our logistics must keep pace. This new centre will allow us to concentrate our dispersed logistics capacities, simplify material flows, and create modern facilities that meet the needs for today’s rail car production. It’s another specific investment in the future of our production in Plzeň,” explains Jan Vrátník, a Member of the Škoda Electric, Bus & Components Board of Directors.

The consolidation of logistics capacity allows Škoda Group to vacate three leased facilities and free up space at its Plzeň plant, which will be repurposed for production. Concentrating logistics into a single location will also reduce the time needed to deliver material, cut the costs of moving materials between sites, and reduce the handling of components and thus the risk of damage.

In addition to Škoda Group, CTPark Plzeň Kasárny is home to companies in fields as diverse as pharmaceutical distribution, industrial electronics, fitness, automotive, and lighting technologies. The campus combines flexible spaces for production, logistics, research and development, offices, and showrooms with sports facilities and community services. The development features a modern Form Factory gym, and neighbouring CTPark Plzeň will soon be home to a Padel Powers sports centre. The brownfield revitalisation project was designed by Studio acht and led by architect Václav Hlaváček, who emphasised Plzeň’s industrial tradition as well as modern sustainable building standards. CTP aims to receive the highest level of certification for the project: BREEAM Outstanding.

The project includes eye-catching and functional landscaping from Dutch studio Baljon Landscape Architects, with more than 200 fully grown trees, wildflower meadows, a rainwater retention system, and green infrastructure to support biodiversity and create a comfortable microclimate.

The campus on Folmavská Street is just minutes from the heart of the city in the western part of Plzeň, with excellent access to public transport and the D5 motorway connecting Prague and Germany. CTPark Plzeň comprises four interconnected parts that create a full-service business campus close to the city centre.
