Near city with strong industrial tradition
Moravian-Silesian Region, a highly industrialized region, is divided into six districts. Karviná is the capital of the Karviná district and has about 50,000 inhabitants. It used to be an industrial city with tradition in coal mining. Nowadays, Karviná is thanks to the Silesian University the centre of education of the region and it is also famous for its spa.
