The Hannover logistics region is connected to the German long-distance transport network, particularly via the A7 and A2 motorways, allowing access to urban areas both north-south and east-west. As a central hub for container traffic from the North Sea ports, efficient distribution of goods throughout Germany can be achieved. The expansion of GVZ Lehrte into a mega-hub will further enhance Hannover’s role as a distribution center. Overall, the region offers all relevant transport modes, including three inland ports, an airport, and four container terminals.
The logistics region encompasses the greater Hannover area as well as the cities of Salzgitter, Braunschweig, and Wolfsburg to the east. The automotive industry, as well as wholesale and retail, benefit from the location: In addition to serving its own urban area, the central position in northern Germany and the proximity to the ports of Hamburg and Bremen, including Bremerhaven, make the region an ideal hub for hinterland distribution and consolidation.
