Strategic hub for goods and transportation
The Hannover logistics region is particularly well-connected to the German long-distance transportation network via the A7 and A2 highways, enabling access to metropolitan areas in both north-south and east-west directions. As a central hub for container traffic from the North Sea ports, efficient distribution of goods throughout Germany is made possible. Notable multimodal infrastructure facilities for container handling include the Nordhafen in Hannover and the GVZ Lehrte, which serve as high-performance hubs. However, multimodal container transport can also be managed outside of these facilities. The DUSS Terminal Hannover-Linden is primarily used by suppliers to the automotive industry, while the container terminals in Wolfsburg and Salzgitter are mainly used by local shippers from industry and trade. The expansion of the GVZ Lehrte into a mega hub will further increase Hannover's role as a distribution center. Overall, the region offers all relevant transport modes, with three inland ports, an airport, and four container terminals available.

The planning area includes a section of the Brink-Hafen industrial zone, a historically grown industrial and commercial location of great significance for Hannover. The western part of the area is exclusively used for commercial and industrial purposes. The business structure is predominantly made up of large and medium-sized companies. There are only a few alternative locations for such businesses within the city. The eastern part of the site, along Vahrenwalder Straße and Industrieweg, is mainly characterized by commercial uses, particularly in the automotive sector, and office spaces.
